Tips for taking excellent accident photos

On Behalf of | Mar 17, 2022 | Personal Injury |

If you’re involved in a car crash, it’s helpful to take photos after the fact. These can be used as evidence to show what occurred in the wreck.

Remember, the other driver may not agree with your account of what happened. They may claim that you were at fault when you know that they were actually at fault. The photos you take can help, especially if you keep the following tips in mind.

Vary the distances and angles

Take a variety of pictures, some of them which are close-ups and some that are far away. Get shots from different angles, if you can. You want to make sure that you capture everything, and you also want to use these pictures to paint a picture of the entire scene.

Do it right away

You may have other pressing things to think about, especially if someone was injured, but you do want to get these photos as quickly as you can. Don’t wait for the other person to move their car or anything of that nature. Immediate photos are going to best show what just happened.

Take pictures of identifying information

Make sure that you take a picture of the other car’s license plate. That driver may not want a picture of them, but they should exchange information with you, so it can be beneficial to take a photo of their driver’s license and insurance documents. Even if they seem helpful, you never know how things could change in the future.

Taking pictures is just one of the things you want to do after a car accident, so make sure you are well aware of the steps you need to take.
